Lanišče

Where is the land?

We bought this old abandoned farm in the middle of the forest, close to 5251 Ravnica. From the beginning, we want to live with other people that share our values of ecology, kindness, respect, honesty, and transparency. We are currently not living on the land due to bureaucratic and financial hardships. But our wishes and plans are to live and work with and off the land.

Who are the founders?

We are a German family of four: Jan (37), Katharina (38), Teo (8), and Lea (4). Jan works primarily as a Software Architect, DevOps Engineer, and Full-Stack Developer. He is interested not only in computer science but in many things. Katharina is an ecological farmer, mother of two, and Waldorf teacher. She is interested in natural medicine, body therapy, and female empowerment.

What is our vision?

To build a modern, sustainable farm focused on regenerative agriculture, permaculture principles, and innovative farming techniques. Sharing knowledge about sustainable food production and rural entrepreneurship. To create safe spaces for children, women, and multigenerational people that want to live with and in nature, who understand themselves as a part of it — but also who are realistic and practical for our modern life and boundaries of economy, law, and skills.

What are our values?

What is the timeframe?

Because there is no livable structure, those buildings have to be built first and the community needs to form. It will take a few years to get there. Meanwhile, we can lay foundations and create spaces together — get to know each other well so we can create fertile ground for the future.

How do you envision the space?

We believe that people need privacy as much as they need community. We want to establish a bigger communal house for sharing experiences, knowledge, skills, and meals — alongside private spaces for each family and individual. We have roughly 5000m² of building land. We imagine separate buildings with their own outside space, plus tiny houses, small cabins, and yurts. If capital allows: workshops, greenhouses, playgrounds, treehouses, ponds, fireplaces, and saunas. Lanišče is off-grid and strives to be self-sufficient through regenerative agriculture and permaculture.

Farm?

We are rebuilding an old farm and value traditional, sustainable livelihood. To be self-sufficient, we grow our own food. With the help of animals, a circular system is created — which means animals are part of our diet. We respect that people have different diets, and this should be upheld by our community. Yes, we also have a dog and a few cats. Additional chickens and goats joined the family.

Economic sustainability?

To be sustainable, we need to be financially stable for development, maintenance, and operation. Agricultural tourism, farm shop, farm stay, and workshops are all possibilities. The specific areas of income will depend on the skills and interests of community members.

How to join?

We have a vague idea of what we want to do, but we are open to suggestions and ideas as we get to know each other. Reach out to start the conversation.

Who are we looking for?

Emotional intelligence, self-reflection, open-mindedness, and a willingness to learn and grow are key traits we value in potential community members. We are looking for people who are curious about life and all the lessons it brings — people who can reflect on themselves on more than one level, willing to learn and grow both personally and professionally.
